Behind the Canvas

Minos was born in 1944 on the island of Rhodes in Greece. His deep appreciation for the ocean and ancient architecture was ignited during his childhood adventures in this historic city. The creative spark within

Minos first manifested itself through poetry. At the age of 13, Minos and his family emigrated from his idyllic island to the outback city of Broken Hill in Australia. Navigating a new culture and language, Minos found solace in his imagination through art.

It was only after relocating to Australia that he uncovered his aptitude for drawing and painting. As a young man still attending high school, Minos excelled in local art competitions and was even commissioned by art collectors.

He was encouraged to nurture this talent and undertook formal training at the National School of Art in Sydney under a full scholarship. Minos graduated in 1965 and had the privilege of working alongside the esteemed Australian artist, Douglas Annand. After completing his studies, Minos dedicated the next thirty years to a career as a graphic designer.

Since retiring in 2000, he has actively pursued artistic creation, drawing inspiration from his formative years on Rhodes.
